Cabrillo National Monument
The park hosts a MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship) station since 2006. Partnering with USGS, the station operates every spring to determine breeding success and productivity and over-winter survivorship of both adults and their young. The station also provides a reliable catalogue of avian diversity within the park.

Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area
A bird banding station has been maintained at Zuma Canyon since the spring 1995. Run by Walt Sakai at Santa Monica College, the objectives of the station is to learn about the bird species in the Santa Monica Mountains and train students in the techniques of bird banding.
