The Mediterranean Coast Network Inventory & Monitoring Program oversees the native vegetation monitoring program. The protocol is being implemented at all three network parks.

Cabrillo National Monument
Channel Islands National Park
Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area
The native vegetation monitoring program seeks to understand the dynamics that affect plant community species composition and structure. Monitoring objectives include looking at the status (current condition) and trends (change in condition over time) in species composition, richness, and abundance cover within the principal vegetation types at all three parks. Results from this program will provide managers with the information necessary to maintain and restore the unique diversity of native plant communities. Learn more
